Sunny Easter Thoughts

I do believe this is our last party at Sunlit Sunday- I think we all hate to see it end don't we?
I want to thank our host Karen for these parties!

We've had a real mixed bag of weather this week.  I had a birthday on Tuesday and the sun was shining like crazy which I appreciated.  We went for a drive up to Petoskey and visited some little shops that I like and had a nice dinner at a restaurant.  The next day it was bitter and snowing which was repeated a couple of times more through the week.  Last night it went down to 4 degrees!  Enough!!

I found the bunny and eggs at one of those stores back in February when we had also visited Petoskey.
I combined them on this tiered cake stand for a centerpiece.

As you can see in the aerial view my Christmas Cactus is blooming up a storm….and some remnants of snow outside.

This plant starts out with pink buds and they end up almost coral in color when the flowers open up.

Here is the plant when I got it in November 2011.  I didn't realize how much it had grown!

I'm glad to share a little bit of my sunshine and happiness with you all and I look forward to seeing you again next year!
I'll be out in the gardens as soon as weather permits! I hope you'll visit me through the summer too!

Pastels of Spring

I am turning my thoughts towards Easter.

When I look at the morning sky filled with these pastel pinks and blues I can't help but think this is the kind of inspiration that motivated the traditional pastel colors we see during Easter.  Of course spring flowers like tulips and daffodils help with that too!

I've created a door arrangement for Easter with the colors of spring in mind!
I was thrilled to find this long skinny basket that can fit between the storm door and the main door.  It will change with the seasons!

These are the things that bring sunshine and happiness this week to me!

Sunshine In and Out

Seems like this has been the most sun filled winter that I can remember in a long long time.  I guess it's due to the fact that we haven't had as many snowstorms as normal.  We are way below the snow totals received over the previous few years which I am delighted about!
A year ago at this time we had received 183"and this year we have only received 101" !

This quote made me happy so I copied it from the net
and added a border.
We all need a little bit of optimism!

For a few brief moments the sun shines over here on this fence.  We are beginning a warming trend and there is a crust forming on the snow and even the fence wall is crystallized.

I'm excited to see the sun rising earlier and earlier and how it's shifted on the landscape which are more signs of spring coming!

I need a bigger lens.  I tried to capture how the trees in the background were being highlighted by the sun.  I always say I'm glad I'm a morning person and get to witness these little things because they make me happy.

Upon opening the door to take pictures I also enjoyed the sounds of the birds chirping away.  Mr. Cardinal is a regular and couldn't look more beautiful against the stark contrast of the snow.

I was going to close the closet door but decided it added to the ambiance created by the sunlight streaming in.

I am prepping for St. Patrick's Day.  I wanted to see how my centerpiece looks with the sun shining on it.  I had a little fun with this one by cutting an opening in the top.  You can see a hint of some forsythia I added in the background- yes I am rushing spring!

The black squirrels were out and about happily bouncing and chasing each other!
Seems like a happy morning to all!
